7Ema - new single "HASSAN" out now; new album out next week on August 28!

«HASSAN» is 7EMA's debut album. It is a snowball in the sand: electro-Arabic music produced in his home studio in Switzerland, composed between Algiers and the oasis of Tighmert in Morocco. His auto-tuned voice, shaped by classical training, speaks of communities, in North Africa and Europe, of exile and of love. The tracks on HASSAN move like an unexpected night out: you arrive calm, you leave drenched in sweat. You dance, you laugh, you cry, you remember.

Originally from Bordj Bou Naama in the Ouarsenis mountains, 7EMA grew up between a Belgian mother and an Algerian father who passed on to him the Adhaan and Arabic songs. He trained in classical guitar and baroque singing at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel (Switzerland), while simultaneously exploring the Arabic repertoire. After several years on classical stages, he chose to step away from performance to create his own music. HASSAN is the result of that choice. The album is built around a precise electro-Arabic sound: raï, Saharan rhythms and electro-pop carried by electronic productions, carefully fingerpicked acoustic guitar, synthesizers, and a voice that sings in French and Algerian darija. The album speaks of colonial wounds and reclaims its origins, never leaving the dancefloor.

10 days before the release of this debut album, 7EMA releases the title track, which tells the story of his encounter with Hassan, a member of the Azwafit tribe from the Tighmert oasis. Hassan gives him a guitar riff that becomes the basis of the song.
