The symphonic metal band Abstracted Mind is releasing their debut album ‘Break Down Your Fears’ today and with it a new music video, “Shattered Mirror”.

“Shattered Mirror” tells a story about the coexistence with our darkest side, and how, when we try to fight it instead of accepting it, it can become our greatest enemy.

Driven by energetic guitar riffs and powerful drums, the song gives Juli Hope's vocals room to unfold this emotional story, which is brought to life through the accompanying music video. A cinematic thriller where the main character, portrayed by Juli Hope herself, is shown struggling to escape a toxic relationship through substance use and increasingly self-destructive behavior, ultimately pushing her to take extreme measures.

The story continues with her in a hospital, unable to distinguish reality from what exists only in her mind and with no memory of what happened. As the song progresses, fragmented memories gradually begin to resurface, slowly revealing what led her there. The story reaches its climax alongside the final moments of the song, when the truth behind what happened is finally revealed.

The song explores this internal fragmentation and the difficulty of distinguishing what is real from what exists only in our minds. Sometimes, the very thing we try hardest to destroy within ourselves does not disappear. Instead, it becomes part of our own identity. Finding a balance between our light and our darkness can be far more difficult, but also healthier, than trying to eliminate either one completely.
