Adore announce debut EP 'BITER' (out 26 Sep on Big Scary Monsters) + share new single 'Sweet Keith'

Fast-rising Irish punks Adore have announced their debut EP 'BITER' will be released on 26th September via Big Scary Monsters. Fresh off a storming summer of festivals and touring, Adore mark the EP announcement with new single 'Sweet Keith' - a gnarled bouquet of gratitude and love to their people. Adore today also announce headline tour dates in Ireland for this autumn.

Produced by Daniel Fox (of Gilla Band), debut EP 'BITER' is a seven-track sucker punch that proves this band can be brutal and unexpectedly moving at once. Drawing from horror films, vampire folklore and lived experience, exploring the quiet ways we contort ourselves to fit in - these are songs that howl and unravel; where fear becomes fuel, softness becomes defiance, and biting back is the only way out.

New single 'Sweet Keith' is Adore at their most tender and volatile. Fusing flurries of abrasive noise and crunching guitars with disarming honesty, it’s a tribute to chosen family.

On new single 'Sweet Keith', vocalist Lara Minchin said:

"Sweet Keith is a very honest and obvious song. One of my best friends noticed that a lot of my friends have far apart eyes, and came to the conclusion that this trait was much the same as ‘prey’ eyes in the animal world. She then went on to say that she believed that a lot of my friends had far apart eyes which then translated in my monkey brain as to be gentle and safe as opposed to predators which typically have their eyes right on the front of their face. Sweet Keith is about my love for my friends and my love for how they always come as they are, their energy and their stories. It’s one of my favourite songs to play live and within the EP it is the beginning of what is to come for adore. Sweet Keith is the manifestation of all of my favourite people rolled into one name and when we play it live and people who I love are in the crowd I feel like it’s a song for them."

Speaking more on their upcoming debut EP, Lara continued:

"BITER is a collection of tracks written before and after Adore’s formation which document a long lesson in being loud and biting back. Over the past few years, I have been obsessed with people's childhood mannerisms and if they carried into or developed into anything in adulthood. I came to the conclusion that most children pick up one or more of these vices: Biter, burner (setting fires), poker, tickler. These little acts of childhood menace are preformed when a child feels great emotion; be it positive or negative, love or hatred. Over the years, I learned how keeping to myself and using silence as a form of self defence was affecting my sense of self. I no longer have to be obedient to survive. Though I was not a biter as a child, I began wishing I was. I admire the release of big feelings that my friends indulged in when they were small and as I’ve grown up, I too have become a biter."

Now consisting of Lara Minchin (guitar, vocals) and Naoise Jordan Cavanagh (drums) — hailing from Dublin and Galway respectively — Adore continue as a duo following the departure of bassist Lachlann Ó Fionnáin earlier this year. While no longer part of the live band, Lachlann’s impact remains woven into Adore’s early DNA. The pair now move forward with the same creative fire that’s fuelled them from the start, their bond strengthened and their sound as instinctive as ever. Pulling from a lineage of bands that made messiness feel deliberate, Adore’s music is angular, twitchy, sometimes abrasive. “Musically, I’m never quite sure what has inspired a particular song because it’s all rather subconscious,” says Lara.

With every release, Adore sharpen their edge and stretch their reach, building something that could define the next chapter of Irish punk. With only a handful of singles to their name, they’ve already drawn attention for their unrelenting, enraged, riotous brand of garage-punk from key tastemakers at press (The Guardian, So Young Magazine, DIY Magazine, CLASH Magazine, Louder, The Line of Best Fit, Dork Magazine) and radio (BBC 6 Music's Steve Lamacq and Craig Charles, plus John Kennedy at Radio X).

Releasing their debut single 'Postcards' in June 2023, Adore quickly established themselves as hot prospects in Ireland, and have played live relentlessly since: supporting SPRINTS on tour across the UK in late 2024, embarking on their own UK headline tour in May 2025, along with further dates supporting CHALK, Cardinals, The Scratch, 86TVs, The Bug Club & festival appearances at The Great Escape, Dot To Dot and more.

With the release of singles 'Can We Talk' & 'Supermum!' in the autumn of 2024 they reaped the rewards of their hard graft with a sold-out hometown headline show at Dublin's famous Whelan's in December 2024.
