Album out now: aron! "Too Close For Running"

Today, “cozy-pop” originator, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist aron! has released his debut album, Too Close For Running, out now on Verve Records. Since signing to the famed label in 2025, aron! has released his first EP, cozy you (and other nice songs), along with a Christmas edition, was named to Vevo’s DSCVR Artists to Watch class of 2026, shared multiple singles, and built a steadily growing and loyal fanbase. Bringing together his wide-ranging influences across pop and jazz, Too Close For Running expands on aron!’s signature cozy-pop sound while marking a new chapter in his music. Too Close For Running is a 12-track coming-of-age story drawn from aron!’s experiences attending college, moving to New York City to pursue music, falling in love, and finding his footing along the way. While cozy you (and other nice songs) was rooted more in “fantasy dream language,” Too Close For Running is grounded in reality, reflecting the moments that have shaped aron!’s life up to this point.

“You get close with someone, and you’re like, shoot, we’ve reached the point of no return,” aron! says. “That’s the idea of the album — that moment where we’re too close to start running away now.”

Coinciding with the release of aron!’s debut album is the official music video for “Tandem Bike.” Singing about the joy of a relationship finally coming together, “Tandem Bike” takes place in the early days of a love story, when it feels like the whole world is laid out in front of you. As the record goes on, aron! doesn’t omit the realities of love — “Before I was leaving out the boring details, but the boring details are often what makes a relationship,” he asserts — or the difficulties that come with it. Last month, aron! released “Call When You Can,” featuring idol-turned-collaborator dodie. On the track, aron! arrives at a place of peace and acceptance in his relationship, distance and distractions be damned. Blending aron!’s signature jazz inflection with infectious pop lyricism, the track pairs him with dodie, a fellow love song crooner and longtime creative inspiration. Prior to “Call When You Can,” aron! released “Not For A Lack Of Trying,” a breezy, romantic pop tune inflected with his signature cozy sound. Listen here and watch the lyric video here. Back in June, he shared “Shiny Stockings,” a song about timeless love inspired by a simple pair of stockings. Listen here and watch the official music video here.

Earlier this year, aron! shared “Macramé,” a collaboration with indie-pop and jazz artist Mei Semones that fuses indie rock with jazz-inflected guitar work to capture the spark and excitement of a new relationship. Listen to the single here and watch the music video here. The track earned praise from John Mayer, who spotlighted it on his SiriusXM channel Life with John Mayer, saying:

“[aron! is] really good at putting harmonic information in a tune that is both complex, which shines nicely on aron! and his talent, but also is right for the tune. It's just nice to hear music performed by a guy who knows a lot of chords but also knows how to use them in a tune.”

With Too Close For Running, aron! emerges as a fully formed artist, drawing on the sounds and songwriting traditions of the past while creating something distinctly his own. Rooted in nearly a century of musical influence but firmly in the present, his debut album establishes aron! as a singular new voice in modern Jazz-pop.

About aron!

Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, aron!’s mom and dad introduced him to rock icons like Pearl Jam and Led Zeppelin, and at eight-years-old he enrolled in guitar lessons at a local music school. aron! studied classical composition at University of North Carolina School of the Arts, developing an appreciation for Chopin, Ravel, and Bach. During COVID, he dedicated himself to learning piano, waking up at 7:30am daily and exploring all that you can do with 88 keys. He earned a full scholarship to the University of Miami and majored in jazz voice and film scoring.

In 2023, he explored what he calls “a vintage pop sound,” and started building a strong following online. Labels started to call, and he signed to Verve Records to further develop his brand of cozy, jazz-leaning indie pop. In his words, “I've always resonated with the real old-school romantics. People are going through the same things now as they were back then. Heartbreak is heartbreak, and love is love. We’re all humans, and that’s what most of these songs are about.”
