Alex Bury signs to Domino sublabel Double Six

Domino are pleased to announce a new artist signing in multi-instrumentalist and producer Alex Burey. Today, Burey, shares his first release for Domino’s imprint Double Six with an official release for his song “Unspoken”.

With warm guitars, gentle percussion and stirring saxophone, “Unspoken” has an understated emotional resonance as Burey sings: “Didn’t I make you feel good / Didn’t I make you feel loved.”

Talking about the song, Burey says: “Unspoken was created during the early hours in my studio. At the time I had lots of lamps in there which created a certain mood which inspired the guitar tones which I began with. The drums were a nod to Shuggie Otis and created using a 70s drum machine loop. Lyrically it was inspired by a first love break up! The final part was recording the saxophone lines with Dom Kirtley.”

Hailing from Croydon, Burey has written for the likes of Matt Maltese and Puma Blue, produced for Matt Maltese, Sasha Keable, Loyle Carner and Sarah Meth and played guitar on a Lily Allen track. Burey’s influences range from Rotary Connection to Elliot Smith, and “Unspoken” is an introduction to an artist now ready to break out on his own.
