An album that defies the odds in so many ways, the genesis of his latest work is rooted in early 2023 when Alex underwent emergency heart surgery and died several times during the procedure. During his unprecedented recovery, he created 'The Fragile Beauty (of New Morning Hopes)', which explores how the experience transformed his identity and artistic perspective.
An album of catharsis and transformation, of peace and noise, previous single releases like “Springtime” captures his confusion and reinvention, whereas “Calling Out!” reflects his awakening through the love and care of those around him; with the latter’s difficult, deeply personal subject matter central to the album’s narrative.
The record begins a planned five-album series created across Virginia, Morocco and Canada, exploring Alex’s reinvention, acceptance of change, community, human connection and making peace with himself. Following the release of ‘The Fragile Beauty (of New Morning Hopes)’, Foster will headline Festival Taragalte, a nomadic music and culture festival held annually in the sand dunes of M'Hamihd El Ghizlane in Morocco showcasing music, poetry, and arts on October 31. His historic performance marks the first time an artist from outside Africa has been included on the lineup.
In November, Foster will tour throughout Morocco and a special date in his hometown of Montreal before returning to Europe as part of his “Defying Gravity” tour. Moroccan dates begin on November 8 following the festival, and the tour extends through December 12 in Paris with stops throughout Switzerland, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, and The Netherlands.
