Alex Kate releases new single Summer Wagon from upcoming EP Rebel For L

Following the success of her very own interpretation of the infamous Fleetwood Mac Song Dreams and her original song One Plus One making waves on tiktok, Alex Kate is now happy to share the second single Summer Wagon of her upcoming EP Rebel For Love. The single encapsulates the feeling of summer being an old friend that you are seeing again. Alex says about the song: “The reason why the song is called Summer Wagon, is as though there is a vehicle that takes you to summer each year. For each person it is different, but everyone is welcome.” The song was written from start to finish within an hour after she played the 3 random word game with her writing partner Heather Crawford (Guitar for Jessie Reyez). Alex has gained a following on Tiktok, getting her 10k followers to suggest words and she makes songs out of them. After we finished the song “At the bottom of my page, I wrote ‘No hierarchy, everybody’s a part of the summer wagon just as an FYI.’” Alex believes this captures the essence of the whole song.

She recorded the tracks by the sea in Norway with Producer Jorgan Manke, who writes: “Feeling the warmth of the sun, Ocean, sand, smiles and happiness all around. To me, that’s what summer is all about, and what I think Alex captured beautifully with her single «Summer Wagon». Inspired by sandy beaches here in Norway, I think we managed to get the production to reflect that same feeling. It was an absolute pleasure producing this, with the very talented Alex Kate on vocals, and the great musicians Arne Bekkeheien (drums) Orjan Kjos (Bass) and Geir Arne Pedersen (guitars). Just in time for summer, add it to Your playlist, and spread this positive summer vibe.”

Summer Wagon as well as its predecessor One Plus One will be part of Alex's upcoming EP Rebel For Love, out 14 October. Alex could not be more excited to finally announce the work of the past couple years - she says: “There have been many challenges to get this body of work ready to be released but I am so proud of it and believe the best things can come out of the hardest fights. I am honoured to have worked with so many incredibly talented people on th EP, including videographers and photographers in South Africa and music makers from all parts of the globe.”

In order to celebrate the release of her upcoming EP, Alex Kate will be hosting an EP launch concert at St. Peter’s in Notting Hill, London on the 14 October. Tickets will be released on the 22nd July.
