Alexandra Maillot releases Cherry Pit

Alexandria Maillot will release their new single “Cherry Pit” on June 24, continuing the rollout for their upcoming album Cryptomnesia and offering another glimpse into the Vancouver artist’s immersive, genre-blurring world. Raised on Vancouver Island, Maillot has become known for crafting lush “swoon rock” that fuses indietronica, dream pop, psychedelia, and R&B into something both nostalgic and strikingly modern. Driven by gritted, nuanced vocals often compared to a blend of Angel Olsen and Lana Del Rey, their music moves through themes of memory, grief, identity, and self-discovery with a cinematic intensity that feels deeply personal yet expansive. Drawing inspiration from artists like Radiohead and Juana Molina, Cryptomnesia marks Maillot’s boldest and most experimental work to date, pairing hypnotic synths, moody basslines, and jazz-leaning rhythms with emotionally charged songwriting.

Over the past several years, Maillot has steadily emerged as one of Canada’s most compelling independent artists. Previous releases, including Time and Benevolence, earned national radio attention and critical acclaim, with support from CBC and SiriusXM, alongside a 2020 Western Canadian Music Award nomination for Breakout Artist of the Year. Their music has appeared in productions for Netflix, Fox/Hulu, MTV, Hallmark, and Syfy, while extensive touring throughout Canada and Europe has included performances at Reeperbahn Festival, Rifflandia, Dawson City Music Festival, and more. With “Cherry Pit,” Maillot continues to push their sound into new territory while further solidifying a reputation for creating music that is atmospheric, emotionally raw, and impossible to shake.
