Alvaro Soler feat. Namayana Women's Choir - "Cero"

Even in early autumn, Alvaro Soler does not let his fans and followers down and, after the airplay and streaming success "Te Imaginaba" (released in June 2024), he releases his new single "Cero" at the end of September.

The artist has been working on the song for quite some time now. The initial idea for the song came about on a trip to Kenya in 2020, which he took as part of a collaboration with WorldVision. In a village called LogLogo, not far from Marsabit National Park, about 500km north of Nairobi, he met, among others, a women's choir who sang him a song to welcome him there. This song inspired Alvaro to create this new single “Cero”. In the song itself you can hear the original recordings of the women's choir pitched and modified by Alvaro, creating a completely new vibe.

The musician showed part of the creation process on his social media channels a few weeks ago and left fans wondering whether and when the new song would be released. In “Cero” (English “zero”) you can once again hear completely new facets of Alvaro Soler: new instruments, melodies and musical inspirations come together and create an interesting new sound that is somewhere between pop, Latin and Afrobeats and also includes elements of the currently very popular genres Organic or Afro House.

In addition to the combination of these musical spheres and cultures, the song's lyrics are no less unique and important. “Cero” is about the theme of new beginnings in a world in which many things don't go right or well. A current topic in the political and social climate of our time. “The song was created in Barcelona in my studio [...] I was inspired by all the things that were happening in the world at the time and that a lot of things weren't going particularly well,” said the singer himself about the writing process. In the lyrics of the song he deliberately asks why you can't sometimes start from scratch (“Cero”) in order to make some things right again. At the end of the day, we are all human and we only have this one earth that we should cherish and protect, is the message of the song. And the part of the women's choir also underlines the message of the lyrics. In their local language it is said

that we are all in this world by God's grace. Gratitude and appreciation are also the theme here.

The song comes with a message, but also carries with it the well-known positive charisma that one is always used to from Alvaro Soler in one way or another. “This song should and will again be the soundtrack for many beautiful moments for me and my fans,” he emphasizes.
