Alvaro Soler signs a new record deal at Sony Music and announces new single ‘Muero

All new for Alvaro Soler! This exceptional artist is releasing a new single – and heralding all kinds of changes, too. Aside from recently signing a new record deal with Sony Music Entertainment, Soler is also breaking new ground musically, visually and stylistically. A musician through and through (Alvaro is a singer and songwriter who also plays multiple instruments and produces many of his songs himself), his upcoming release sees him go a step further and take his universally loved sound to the next level – Alvaro Soler 2.0, as it were! Multi- faceted Spanish pop music with a gritty edge and a real sense of depth: values that Alvaro has long conveyed, but which he hasn’t previously unleashed to full effect. Alongside his new musical direction, a shift is also underway on a visual level. On 17 April, Alvaro reset his social media channels and wiped all his posts, leaving behind the past so he can forge new paths. Just a new logo and a new colourway were the only digital signs of life on the artist’s social media, giving fans and followers an inkling that something new was on its way – with fresh visual imagery and colours.

Alvaro Soler is now giving listeners their first taste of his newly defined style with his single ‘Muero’, which sees an elegantly contemporary tune blend eclectic sound elements with a whole heap of positive vibes. A catchy, modern, feel-good track, situated somewhere between disco and Latin pop thanks to its groovy guitar and toe-tapping beats. ‘Muero’ (‘I die’, but used in Spanish to mean something akin to ‘I can hardly wait’) was created between Barcelona and Los Angeles towards the start of the year in collaboration with Swedish producer Jakke Erixson (Christina Aguilera, RedOne, Ava Max). ‘It’s about a fateful encounter,’ says Alvaro, talking about the story behind his brand-new love song. ‘You see this person and you desperately want to find out more about them. You’re literally dying to get to know this mysterious individual better. I’m hugely sensitive to certain vibes and I can immediately tell if I’m on the same wavelength as someone – that’s exactly what this song’s about.’

Alvaro started his efforts to discover his new sound quite some time ago. Unhindered by pressure or looming deadlines, the 32-year-old dipped his toe into all-new musical waters. He explored a previously unknown facet of his music, without losing sight of himself and his characteristic signature sound. ‘I focused on myself alone and returned to writing like I did in the early days: alone, at the piano, with just a blank piece of paper. It was a hugely intimate situation where I could really let go. And then the music came to me!’ Today, this new sense of ease is clear to hear in Alvaro’s work. ‘I gave myself every freedom to experiment and leave my comfort zone far behind. [...] I think this new way of working also gave me an opportunity to establish a new relationship with myself, a relationship I’ve been missing in recent years. The new songs have let me [...] rediscover my passion for music anew.’
