Art Brut + bis Announce Split 7” Collab ‘Sorry About That’ Released 12th December 2025 via Alcopop! Records

Much-loved London “sprechgesangers” ART BRUT are delighted to team with indie pop icons bis for a split 7” release ‘Sorry About That’, setting its sights on the vinyl singles chart Christmas #1 spot, releasing on 12th December 2025 via indie bastion Alcopop! Records.

Lead single ‘Opposites Attract’, a cover of Paula Abdul’s storming 1988 hit, is released on 20th November 2025 via all good digital service providers, flanked on the full 7” by Cass Elliot cover ‘Make Your Own Kind of Music’, and the two bands alternating cover duties of their own tracks ‘Teen-C Power’ and ‘My Little Brother’.

Yes, it's the only chart that really matters, and the only chart you can possibly top with less than 500 copies, presuming of course that Oasis or Wizzard haven't stuck some f*cking reissue out...but they might not have? And in that case, we reckon we've got a little squeak at this. So let's bloody go. Top of the Pops and all that!

Commenting on the collaboration, Art Brut front man Eddie Argos says: "I can’t believe I managed to manipulate this into existence—I’ve been collecting bis 7” for more than half my life! And now I’m on one! The cherry on the cake, or the Angel on the Christmas tree if you like, would be to have it as No. 1 in the indie 7” chart on Christmas Day. A modest ambition! Bis TOTP! (and they were actually on it!)."

Eddie and ART BRUT kick off next year with an extensive run of UK/EU support dates with Newcastle indie darlings Maximo Park as part of their debut’s 20th anniversary celebrations, before crossing the Atlantic to conquer America on their own run of April 2026 USA headline dates, including a 3 night run at New York’s legendary Mercury Lounge venue.

Manda Rin, Sci-Fi Steven and John Disco, meanwhile, move into their 31st year of being bis with a cheeky, euphoric take on Paula Abdul classic ‘Opposites Attract’ with a classically sardonic appearance from Argos, and Steven doing his best MC Skat Kat on this electro-punk banger aimed squarely at the indie dancefloor.

"The song was a massive hit in 1990 and although technically nowhere near as cool as the Inspiral Carpets and 808 State, every member of the band would admit to cutting a rug to it at the Woodfarm High School Xmas Disco,” adds Sci-Fi Steven.

The band's first new release since 2022 also sees them imprint their signature sound on a cover of Art Brut's ‘My Little Brother’ with Manda Rin's iconic sing/shout making it sound very much like a bis original. It's all great fun and some light relief before the band venture back to the studio to start work on album number 6, loosely aimed at release sometime in 2026. The band have just been on tour with EMF and Jesus Jones and connected with many new converts who perhaps had written them off.
