Arto Cola new single «Lonely Night (feat. Mark Kelly)», debut album «I» out on 13.11!
There is something exhilarating about the collaboration between Arto Cola and Mark Kelly, an artist as mysterious as he is exceptionally talented. ‘Lonely Night’ sounds as though Daft Punk had invited MGMT and Earth, Wind & Fire to record the imaginary soundtrack to ‘Miami Vice 2.0’. Synthesizers clash with XXL-sounding guitars, the choruses take on a Super Bowl feel, and Mark Kelly moves through this soundscape with brazen ease. Behind this deliberate balancing act, however, lies the consistency of Arto Cola: transforming this stylistic exercise into a playground, a sandpit for the two friends, confirming that their appetite for risk extends as much to the sounds they create as to the collaborators they choose to invite.
«Lonely Night» is taken from Arto Cola’s debut album, «I», which will be released on November 13th via Irascible Records. Conceived as the first chapter of a trilogy, the album explores a form of pop in perpetual flux, with guests such as Mark Kelly, Mel D, Shuttle, Melissa Kassab and many more.
Before Arto Cola, Augustin von Arx and Léonard Persoz already shared more than a decade of music making together, both on stage and in the studio. Founding members of some of the most distinctive acts on the Swiss French-speaking scene, including Magic & Naked and Le Roi Angus, they have played more than 400 shows in Switzerland and internationally, appearing at festivals such as Paléo and the Montreux Jazz Festival. They now give rise to Arto Cola, a space of freedom where the different facets of their journey as musicians, producers and arrangers can converge.
