Arto Cola – new single «Mercedes & Rubies (feat. Shuttle)», Album «I» out on 13.11

With «Mercedes and Rubis», Arto Cola defies convention. The groove is slow, supple, almost languid, carried by the falsetto vocals of Shuttle, a delicate pop singer and sound engineer from Fribourg whose tone seems to float between Minneapolis and the rooftops of Geneva. One is naturally reminded of Prince, though without falling into excessive imitation – a synthetic soul sound designed to send shivers down your spine. A summer song born in autumn, it makes for an opening that is as unexpected as it is inevitable: where elegance meets happy accidents, and pop, when truly free to wander, no longer has to follow the four seasons.

Arto Cola’s debut album, «I», is an invitation to let yourself be surprised. Without imposing any stylistic limits on themselves, Augustin von Arx and Léonard Persoz explore an open-ended pop sound where R&B, soul, funk, rock and more incisive sounds intersect, always at the service of the track. Marked by a shared taste for rich arrangements, unexpected details and serendipitous moments, the record brings guest vocals, production, songwriting and performance into an interplay where each contributes equally. The album thus celebrates collective creation, curiosity and the joy of breaking down genre barriers, whilst asserting a distinctive, accessible and resolutely contemporary sound.
