Los Angeles trio ASHRR release Sunshine Low (ASHRR Soundsystem Versions) via UK tastemaker label 20/20 Vision (home to Maya Jane Coles and Crazy P). More than just a remix collection, the full-length project sees the band reinvent their 2024 album Sunshine Low from the ground up — with entirely new live instrumentation, drums, and programming — crafted under their dancefloor-focused alias, ASHRR Soundsystem.

Rooted in the band’s signature blend of emotionally charged songwriting and rich vocal harmonies, the new versions draw from a wide palette of influences: dub, Balearic house, cosmic disco, and post-punk. The result evokes LCD Soundsystem, Khruangbin, and New Order by way of a sunrise set in Ibiza — late-night textures, hypnotic grooves, and a widescreen sense of mood and movement.

The trio — vocalist Steven Davis, jazz-trained pianist/songwriter Josh Charles, and Grammy-nominated engineer/producer Ethan Allen — formed ASHRR in 2018 with a shared mission: to make music that moves people. Since then, they’ve earned praise from KEXP, DJ Mag, FLOOD, and KCRW, along with remix support from luminaries like Ron Trent, Lovefingers, and Scientist.
