What AViVA has had to say about "Love and War": “‘Love and War’ was one of the easiest songs I’ve ever written. It took me a heartbeat to find the core of the song, and it’s deeply personal. At the outset, it sounds like a traditional love song, but for me, this song is about a friendship breakup that I experienced seven years ago. At the time, I lost one of my best friends over a disagreement that should have been easy to sort out with some communication, but the loss of trust became unsurmountable, and so the friendship ended, and I’ve never stopped missing her. But I find in life it’s the friendships I miss more than anything, the company, the familiarity. That is what we’re always seeking as humans, and that is why it made the most sense to have this song become the theme song for my book SELF/LESS, which is about a young woman's journey through a new world and new friendships with love and loss and loss of trust”.
