Aweminus and Phiso Reach Into the Vault to Release Nearly 10-Year-Old ID With Nasty Riddim Single "Spenk" on Bassrush Records

Nearly a decade in the making, Aweminus and Phiso finally unleash “Spenk”—a notorious ID that’s been rattling crowds since 2016, now crashing onto Bassrush Records on August 29.

Forged as a spur-of-the-moment collab and road-tested into legend, “Spenk” embodies the raw chaos of riddim at its most unhinged. Built around a grotesquely elastic groove, the single mutates through squishy synth leads, 8-bit jolts, inverted bass stabs, and absurdly bent articulations—a cartoonishly chaotic riddim monster that fans have been demanding for years.

Aweminus shares his excitement around unleashing the track unto the world, saying, ‘Spenk’ is an oldie that Phiso and myself made in the golden age of riddim. We figured it was finally time to get the track finished and we’re stoked to let this one out in the wild!”

Speaking to the elusive nature of their highly anticipated collab, Phiso says, “We’ve kept this as a secret weapon in our sets for far too long, and now it’s yours. We recommend playing it loud in a church parking lot after Sunday service for best results.”

Cleveland-based Aweminus has carved a reputation for detonating expectations with razor-sharp sound design and reckless experimentation. A fixture on the Bassrush catalog, his arsenal includes festival-crushers like “Panini Press” and “Death Club,” alongside explosive flips of ATLiens’ “Shelter” and Infekt’s “Da Pit.” With support from the likes of HOL!, 12th Planet, Doctor P, Perry Wayne, and Borgore—plus, upcoming sets at Dancefestopia, Wicked Oaks, Paranormal Underground, and a headline slot at Club Vinyl—Aweminus continues to dominate both in the studio and on stage.

Toronto’s Phiso remains one of dubstep’s most uncompromising architects. Since breaking out at 17 with the cult anthem “Jotaro,” he has specialized in high-density, trench-inspired productions that blur the line between chaos and precision. His remix roster boasts names like Subtronics, SVDDEN DEATH, Space Laces, and Riot Ten, while his relentless live sets have made him a fixture across North America, with stops at The Church Nightclub, Bass Gardens, and Wicked Oaks on the horizon.

With past collaborations including cult favorites “Hijinks,” “Sheer Cold,” and “Four Horsemen,” Aweminus and Phiso have long proven their chemistry. With “Spenk,” the powerhouse pairing reunite to bring a long-coveted ID to the surface—a release that cements their place among bass music’s most inventive minds while delivering the underground its long-awaited anthem.

Aweminus and Phiso’s new single “Spenk is available on all platforms via Bassrush Records.
