Bat Eyes releases new single 'Nothing Here'
Belgian indie quartet Bat Eyes are ready to release their self-titled full length debut album through [PIAS] Recordings on September 16th. Bat Eyes is a 10 song guitarpop powerhouse! Crunchy yet dreamy, full of memorable hooks and big choruses, it’s an album packed with instant singalongs trimmed to perfection.
Brand new single Nothing Here serves as another perfect example of the band’s songwriting skills.
“It’s one of the first songs we ever played together and definitely one that set the standard for our up-tempo tracks”, frontman Koen Wijnant explains, “I guess it shows quite a lot of our influences, as people tend to refer to it as “the one with the kind-of-Pumpkins-riff” haha – a huge compliment in my book. We recorded this song 3 times – an early version with a different drummer, a different studio, and then this final version for the full album. Still sounds fresh to me”.
Formed as a 3-piece in 2019 when Wijnant decided to record a full album out of the home demos he had been piling up, they upgraded to a 4-piece by early 2020. With Luna De Bruyne on bass/vocals duties, Tomas Serrien on drums and Birger Ameys on guitar the band self released a couple of singles before getting signed by [PIAS] and releasing a first EP in 2021
