Bbcc — Knight Knight (part I) and "Knight Knight (part II)
"Knight Knight (Part I)" and "Knight Knight (Part II)" are two songs taken from King Michael II and the Trial of the Axe, the upcoming album by french band BBCC to be released on June 12, 2026 via October Tone.
The two-part video work conceived as a single cinematic diptych is an absurd psychedelic medieval western suspended somewhere between the anarchic comedy of Monty Python and the surreal unease of Tim & Eric, filtered through a kitsch, glamorous visual language reminiscent of Bertrand Mandico.
Directed and edited by Adrien Moerlen, with cinematography by Christophe Urbain, the two films unfold on a battlefield strewn with corpses. Only two survivors remain: Viktor Reitchus, a knight descending into homicidal madness, and his squire Reginald — known as “the victim” — who also happens to be his lover, complicating matters considerably. Watching from a distance is Patrick the Necromancer, restless with anticipation. Something unthinkable is about to happen, and he paid to witness it.
Musically, the project inhabits a feverish territory somewhere between LCD Soundsystem, Talking Heads, John Cale, and Black Midi.
"Knight Knight (Part I)" unfolds patiently through dark polyrhythmic disco, balancing ominous tension with an unexpectedly joyful chorus before dissolving into an instrumental passage where brass arrangements collide with acid-driven beats and analog synthesizers.
"Knight Knight (Part II)" serves as a frantic epilogue. More introspective than the single preceding it, the second chapter abandons color for black-and-white imagery as everything becomes sharper, more fragmented, and increasingly aggressive.
