Beat Assailant releases "City Never Sleep"

Adam Turner AKA Beat Assailant is an American rapper based in Paris for several years. He has published several albums in France from the alternative scene and has given numerous concerts, leaving behind him a lasting impact of the most powerful groove, with his crossbreed of rap, electro, funk, soul and rock. On stage and in studio, he has collaborated, as an MC or an author, with artists such as Shakaponk, Ben L’Oncle Soul, Electro Deluxe, or Oxmo Puccino, among others.

In 2012, the album “B” has been released, including the tune “Rain Or Shine” (synch. the USA & Europe resounding Nissan Juke advertising campain).

Today he’s back with City Never Sleeps, an urban manifesto, whose artwork is born from his collaboration with the plastician Jean- François Rauzier, creator of the hyperphoto concept.

The narrator, and also the main character of this urban epic, Adam Turner, who lived in Miami, Atlanta and Paris, steps into the shoes of a young man, experiencing life in the urban era, and faced with a choice : the path of easy money or to fight for something more in line with his dreams. Here the city and its paradoxes fight over the leading man and his story, to the point of almost becoming the inspired tale’s main character.

The rapper tightened the recording sessions around Nicolas Gueguen, his keyboardist and a fellow traveler on this journey from its very beginning. Nicolas Gueguen implemented the production, carried by the exciting single ‘’Run’’ (composed and performed by the Beatmakers Montmartre, previously writers with Adam turner on “Rain Or Shine”), pierced by the skilful scratches of Mr. Viktor (DMC world champion 2013 and 2014 with the team “9 o’clock”) and also here played live by his stage band. Not to forget the elusive melodies of ‘’One Wish’’, sustained by the voice of Ben l’Oncle Soul. The consistent production gives the story a lively originality and a human side.

A coherent entity of music, sound and meaning that is given profound depth by the rapper’s succinct, flexible flow and his narrative, poetic writing. What if the city were really alive?
