Between Cities releases New Single ‘Quicksand’, A Powerful New Chapter with Producer Dan Weller
Between Cities Release New Single ‘Quicksand’A Powerful New Chapter with Producer Dan Weller Between Cities return with their new single ‘Quicksand’, marking the beginning of a bold newchapter for the band. The track is one of the first songs recorded with renowned UK produce rDan Weller, known for his work with Holding Absence, Caskets and EnterShikari.
After years of self-producing their material, the band made a conscious decision to elevate boththeir sound and songwriting. Working with Weller proved transformative, helping them reinventtheir identity and land on a sound that is both sonically heavy and emotionally resonant.
“Quicksand” was co-written with Robin van Loenen, a major player in the EDM world (Armin vanBuuren, Nicky Romero etc.), and captures the feeling like you and everyone around you areslowly falling apart beneath the surface, pretending everything’s fine while sinking deeper andsilently wishing someone would pull you out.
The lyrics, at times ominous (“We all fall down, can’t turn around”), are paired with a powerful, defiant sound. In the opening seconds, the guitar briefly feels as though it’s borrowed from The Edge of U2, but then Between Cities asserts its own identity—both vocally and musically—with striking determination. What a distinct sound!
‘Quicksand’ is the perfect follow up track after their previous release Beyond This Grave (co-written with Lucas Woodland of Holding Absence) which has tripled the bands monthly listeners& elevated their fanbase. With this release, Between Cities confidently step into a new era, heavier, more refined, and emotionally uncompromising
