Bibio & Dorian Concept share new single "Hammock Portal"

Bibio (Stephen Wilkinson) and Dorian Concept (Oliver Johnson) share “Hammock Portal”, the latest single from their debut collaborative album Answers, out via Warp Records on October 16th, 2026. The track is accompanied by a music video created entirely by Wilkinson and Johnson, continuing the visual world developed across the project.

“Hammock Portal” began as a guitar-loop pedal jam written by Wilkinson. After hearing the track while falling asleep in a hammock, Johnson set out to recreate the hypnagogic state it evoked through his production, filtering away the higher frequencies of the guitar before opening the track into a new dimension with a sudden burst of sound. Time-stretched guitar chords processed using a Roland VP9000 encoder ring out in otherworldly spectral bursts, while synths and guitar gradually come back into focus towards the end, joining together as if waking from a dream.

The track reflects the instinctive process at the heart of Answers, with Wilkinson and Johnson responding to each other’s ideas without defined roles or instructions. Built through experimentation and improvisation, the album brings together guitar, piano, and synth melodies with field recordings, tape loops, and processed textures. Shaped by the pair’s shared fascination with a range of analogue and digital technologies and the unexpected qualities that emerge when familiar sounds are transformed.

Answers is out on Warp Records on October 16th, 2026, available now to pre-order on black vinyl in a printed inner sleeve and 3mm spine sleeve with a 6pp concertina booklet, and on CD in a 4-panel digipak with a 6pp concertina booklet.
