BIG TRUCK Share The New Single ‘Rebounder’ - Debut Album ‘Midday At The Middleway’ Follows On August 28
Fronted by Laurie Vincent of SOFT PLAY, Big Truck’s lyrically charismatic brand of abstract pop is making waves. Firing on all fronts - big reactions at 2000trees and The Great Escape, airplay at 6Music and Radio 2, coverage from Dork, Kerrang!, NME, Rock Sound and The Line of Best Fit - their ascension continues as they share their new single ‘Rebounder’. The track features on their eagerly anticipated debut album ‘Midday At The Middleway’ which follows on August 28th.
The sun-kissed Rhodes-heavy grooves of ‘Rebounder’ are joyously infectious and soulful, while Laurie’s stream-of-consciousness lyrics exalt all of the things that make life worth living - even if they’re tempered with the ying-and-yang realisation that someone else’s carelessness can always put a downer on the brightest of days. And how often have you heard a song that references stimulating the lymphatic system?
Laurie says, “There’s an overarching theme across the record of being shouted at about self-help on social media. Even if you walk through an airport, you see that all of the top books being sold are about self-help and are usually full of bullshit. ‘Rebounder’ is my tongue-in-cheek take on that. And it’s a true story: we were having a really amazing day out, then I picked my kid, and there was dogshit all over my hands.”
Together with the previously released tracks ‘Central Reservation Blues’ and ‘Collided’, ‘Rebounder’ highlights the positive spirit, creative liberation and eclectic sounds that make ‘Midday At The Middleway’ so instantly engaging. It’s led by Laurie’s exemplary songwriting, stepping beyond what he’s best known for as he touches on influences as diverse as The Cure, The Smiths, The War On Drugs, Sam Fender, The Breeders and Joeyfat. The songs are elevated by his bandmates’ talents -- Sam Coppin’s jazz-tinged drumming, Asa Thallon’s background as a metal guitarist, and keyboardist Justin Myles’ stellar R&B and soul musicianship.
The ‘Midday At The Middleway’ album is available to pre-order HERE. The band’s official store offers physical formats including a deluxe marble vinyl with a poster, neon vinyl and a CD with a zine.
