ABOUT blackbear
Since first crashing onto the scene in the mid-2010s, multi-platinum-selling singer/songwriter/producer blackbear has continually turned heads and defied all expectations, effortlessly mixing his satirical humor and refreshingly forthright semantics with deeply heartfelt emotion. Delivering an outrageously catchy hybrid of pop and hip-hop and alt-R&B, the L.A.-based artist has put out five studio albums in the last six years alone, including 2019’s magnum opus ANONYMOUS, and 2020’s gold-certified everything means nothing (a #15 hit on the Billboard 200 Chart.) Hyper-creative and massively prolific, he’s also collaborated with the likes of Pharrell Williams and Linkin Park, and brought his top-notch songwriting skills to Justin Bieber’s six-times-platinum single “Boyfriend.” And in his unflinching honesty about his own demons and depression, blackbear creates a powerful sense of solidarity—ultimately moving forward with his longtime mission of “inspiring everyone to be more unapologetic about who they are.”
In August 2019, blackbear dropped his biggest smash to date with the 3x-platinum hit “hot girl bummer,” – the anthem reached #2 at Top 40 radio, landed at #11 on Billboard’s 2020 Year-End Top 40 Radio chart, and #26 on the Year-End Hot 100 Chart. blackbear’s hitmaker prowess continues to be showcased through numerous recent collaborations, most notably featuring on Machine Gun Kelly’s “my ex’s best friend” and All Time Low’s “Monsters,” both of which spent multiple weeks #1 at radio. He kicked off 2021 garnering nominations for two 2021 Billboard Music Awards (Top Rock Song x2), and two 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards for “Best New Pop Artist” and “Alternative Rock Song of the Year.” blackbear returned with his brand-new single “u love u” featuring Tate McRae on June 4, 2021, followed by the release of his EP, misery lake.
