Bogotá-Based Psych Funk Band Balthvs Share New Song; New Album Out Oct 7
- “BALTHVS count themselves as descendants of musical psychonauts like the Grateful Dead and Santana, and they wear that foundational influence proudly...The trio is just as adept with slow-burning dub meditations as with floor-filling up-tempo funk, both of which invite listeners on journeys out of the body – no psychoactive supplementation necessary.” – RELIX
- “BALTHVS’ wide-ranging vibe includes influences from psychedelia, indie rock, dub reggae, surf rock, cumbia, Middle Eastern music, and more.” – POPMATTERS
- “BALTHVS truly show themselves as a reflection of their time. A band that could only happen in a globalized world, where music has no frontiers or geographical barriers.” – IT’S PSYCHEDELIC BABY!
Psychedelic funk trio BALTHVS has shared their mesmerizing new single, “Motion (For Ashra),” available everywhere now. The track – which interpolates “Oasis” from legendary Kosmische Musik guitarist Manuel Göttsching’s groundbreaking Ashra project – heralds the Bogotá-based band’s much-anticipated sixth studio album, Manifest, arriving via Mixto Records on Friday, October 7. Pre-orders/pre-saves are available now.
“Being great fans of Ash Ra Tempel, the band decided to rework Manuel Göttsching’s cosmic tune ‘Oasis’ into something else, while preserving the wonderful melodies of the late German composer,” says BALTHVS.
