There is a nihilistic tendency in the rock’n’roll scene that seems to be more intense between punk culture. “No future”, predicted the Sex Pistols in the 1970s. Or, “live fast, die young”, as the Circle Jerks preached in the 1980s. And this could be a problem that was even a reason for music icons to leave us without taking advantage for his achievements. Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), Layne Staley (Alice in Chains), Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison (The Doors) and Jimi Hendrix are examples. Despite having already left this plan, these artists now return as characters in ‘I Don’t Wanna Die Young’, debut single by the brazilian musician Jaydson. In addition to being mentioned in the lyrics that contests the self-destructive attitude often attributed to rockers, the stars listed are also characters in the music video available for the track.

The cry of "Eu quero morrer velho" (I want to die old, in a free translation) at the beginning of the song is, at the same time, a critic and a tribute to great late artists who left us prematurely. ‘I Don’t Wanna Die Young’ has its lyric mixing english and portuguese to give the message that life is worth living if you believe that your dreams are possible.

The instrumental carries influences ranging from the punk to melodic hardcore, also including references of alternative rock and grunge. However, there is a certain pop appeal to the music that makes it accessible to different audiences.
