Cameron James releases On Time

“On Time!” is the new collaborative LP from Cameron James and producer 40k, and it lands as a fully realized project shaped by patience, chemistry, and a shared creative language. Across the record they move through a smooth blend of R&B and hip-hop that never locks itself into one lane. Instead it flows between late-night intimacy and brighter, more energetic moments. Tracks like “Rose,” “Mind Games,” and “Don’t Fight Me” highlight that range, with Cameron’s vocals carrying a very visual, emotional style that feels personal but still accessible, while 40k’s production shifts between airy, atmospheric soundscapes and tighter, rhythm-forward sections that keep the momentum steady. The result is a record that plays like a soundtrack to different moments of the day, from reflective solo drives to summer nights with energy in the air.

The collaborations on the project feel just as natural as the core duo. “Ricky” featuring Terrell Morris stands out as a perfect example, especially knowing it came together after the two connected in Kelowna. Terrell’s laid-back but precise hook sits effortlessly beside Cameron’s smooth, cinematic delivery, giving the song a vivid sense of place and movement. “Don’t Fight Me” with Teon Gibbs brings together Cameron, Teon, and 40k for the first time in the studio, and that initial spark shows in how quickly the hook and theme locked in. The project is also supported by contributions from Snowchild Edge and Kid Filthy, with mixing by Austin Deus Mcleod and mastering by Greg Mindorff. Altogether “On Time!” arrives as a cohesive, carefully built body of work set for release on July 10.
