Carlita Releases Phenomenal Debut Album 'Sentimental'

Today, Turkish-Italian DJ and producer Carlita releases her highly-anticipated debut album, Sentimental. The album, which is the culmination of Carlita’s lifelong journey through music, is out now via Ninja Tune.

Throughout its 12 tracks, Sentimental taps into Carlita’s passion for Turkish psychedelia and '90s rock while touching her roots in classical music. This blend of influences, paired with collaborations with Sicilian musician Orofino, super dance/pop producer SG Lewis, and mentor-manager DJ Tennis, fuse into her penchant for house, techno, and indie dance and tell the whole story of Carlita’s musical odyssey, which began at age three when she first learned the piano and has taken her to dance music’s most coveted spaces.

Carlita’s greatest strength as a musician, her natural ability to learn any instrument, permeates the tracklist on Sentimental. Recordings of her playing piano, cello, bass guitar, drums, and more are featured throughout the album and, paired with her knowledge of music theory, give the body of work its timeless, intuitive, and cohesive feel. It’s easy to imagine tracks like “Time,” “The Moment,” and “Trouble Symphony” working beautifully on the dance floor, but there’s also the essence of something deeper, the touch of a musical scholar that pushes Sentimental beyond clubs and festivals, and into backyards, dining rooms, runways, and all places reserved for bringing people together.

ABOUT CARLITA

Carlita (real name Carla Frayman) comes from a background of musical mastery, having played classical cello for the Royal Academy of Music in London in her earlier years (after learning to play piano at age three). Since her earliest memories, Frayman has never stopped developing her musical talent, picking up more instruments, learning music theory, and, after university, saving up enough money to pursue it full-time. She hasn’t stopped chasing her dreams and is now playing high-profile DJ slots (check out her Cercle set at Cinecittà in Rome), and has quickly risen as a producer with releases on Circoloco, Life and Death, with remixes for Disclosure and RÜFÜS.

Earlier this year, Frayman brought her multi-sensory party concept, Senza Fine (Italian for “endless”), to New York Fashion Week for its fourth edition. Performing alongside The Blessed Madonna, Luke Alessi, and Mia Moretti, Frayman’s event runs the gamut of fashion, food, music, and art. Her close ties to the fashion world have earned her invites to perform at exclusive events for brands like Audemars Piguet, Rabanne, and Rimowa. This year, she also was an opener for Dua Lipa in Germany, Croatia, and France, and also played at Alix Earle’s Halloween party.

To conclude 2024, Frayman will perform at London’s KOKO nightclub, ANOTR’s No Art party in Los Angeles, Bravo GNP Festival in Mexico, and Réveillon Carneiros in Brazil.
