Carthus: Melbourne Metal Act Announces Debut Album "Images of Tyranny" & First Single 'Fed to the Lions'

Paving the way for Death-Folk crossover metal, Carthus invites you on a journey exploring the brutal potential of a humanity frozen in time. 'Images of Tyranny' presents punishing ideas of a collapsing societies, deteriorating order, and fantastical imagery as it takes listeners through the ages in its Metaphor-laden chronicles.

With epic melodic scores and solid groove metal riffage, the 5-piece squad expresses their multi-influential dynamics in this hard hitting, head banging, riff raging debut album. The tastes of hubris and insignificance, splendour and delusion, invasive ideologies, and suffocating conceit. It's glory. It's pain. It's heavy metal and it's Carthus!

The band comments: "We wrote Lions in a time where the band was transitioning from more straight folk metal material into something heavier.The aim was definitely to bridge those two feelings and write something heavy but still retaining that melodic and gollopy feel that we'd cultivated in previous songs.

Lyrically this one was a heap of fun to write. Outwardly it's a very clear homage to Conan the Barbarian along with that whole genre of weird medieval fantasy films. However looking closer the message of the song is actually one of class imbalance, and a call to rise up to focus on the root of this problem rather than fight each other. This comes out explicitly in the more frenetic parts of the song.

Notably this song is also the one that felt the most collaborative with every member adding their own sections during the writing process. For that reason we feel it's a great single to represent the bands influences and future direction"
