Caspar Auwerkerken shares 'In Skies'
In Skies is about someone who is searching, and who opens up very hard to beauty, although he’s afraid allowing this. It also applies to the human relationships that the character enters into: sometimes it goes very smoothly, and at other times not at all. Furthermore, it is about the cyclical and reciprocal nature of emotions, and how sadness cannot exist without happiness and vice versa.
It's the second single of the 22-year old singer-songwriter Caspar Auwerkerken. After releasing his debut track ‘Hyacinth’ earlier this year, Caspar became Artist in Residence at Muziekgieterij Maastricht and Het Depot Leuven. He signed with V2 Records and received the very first Jan Mans award, a new yearly prize from Muziekgieterij for promising artists.
The wonderful voice of Caspar – sometimes leaning towards Thom Yorke – is suffused with dreamy arrangements and minimalist soundscapes. Armed only with a guitar and his beautiful voice, he has already provided support acts for Portland, Meskerem Mees, Mauro Pawlowski, Admiral Freebee and The Bony King of Nowhere. He has already performed - often to his own surprise - on the stages of OLT Rivierenhof, Het Depot, Ancienne Belgique and De Muziekgieterij. For fans of Sigur Rós, Radiohead, Tamino and The Bony King of Nowhere.
