Celine Cairo's new album 'Overflow' out on August 27th

‘Overflow’ is the stunning new album from Dutch musician Celine Cairo, available August 27 on Ivy Records. Recorded between London and Amsterdam, Overflow has been produced by Tim Bran (London Grammar, Birdy, Aurora) and upcoming German producer Benjamin Rheinlander. The album is the follow-up to Cairo’s award-winning 2016 debut ‘Free Fall’, which broke the former teen star across mainland Europe.

After touring 'Free Fall', Cairo spent two years writing, traveling and immersing herself in nature while waiting for the pieces to fall into place. If the album has a central theme, it’s about losing oneself to despair but coming back stronger.

“I’ve always been open about my mental health,” says Celine. “I’ve long been on medication and I’m happy to speak out to break the stigma around that. Bi-polar disorder runs in my family and my teenage years were very much shaped by the depression and manic episodes I witnessed. Though I've never been manic, I suffered from depression and anxiety which was really hard, but it's also the reason I started writing songs. It was the only way I knew to get my emotions out and make sense of my life amid the chaos that was going on around me.”

Cairo's previous releases have been streamed over 14 million times and were featured in several TV series (Queen Sugar, Prince Charming, All You Need Is Love, Grenzeloos Verliefd and Walker, Texas Ranger a.o.). In the past she played shows in the US, Italy, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium and she played support shows for artists like Haevn, Dotan, Asgeir and Dodie. Celine has been featured in magazines such as Vogue, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar and she's been featured on blogs/platforms such as Ear to the Ground, Popmuzik, The Daily Indie, Dansende Beren and 3voor12.

Cairo will embark on the Overflow headline tour of The Netherlands in early 2022.
