Cello To Release New Single “Forever” on 18th September

Independent Brighton artist Cello releases new single “Forever” via Barracuda Recordings on 18th September.

Cello returns with her new single, “Forever”, taken from her forthcoming debut album ‘Kung Fu Disco’. Described by Cello as neon-tinged teenage heartbreak, the song finds her contemplating time, life and death, as well as love’s transcendence of it all. “Watching all the seconds as the time just slips away,” she sings over a track that evokes groundbreaking 80s indie-pop stars such as Blondie, The Motels, Wire and early Eurythmics.

Cello is a very focused and determined artist who is keen to be involved in the whole creative process. The music video that accompanies the track was filmed, directed and edited by Cello, who created a dreamlike layered video confronting different reflections of the self and the feelings surrounding them. “You want the moment to last forever whilst looking for the exit,” she explains, “Ripe with bittersweet promise.”

“Forever” marks Cello’s fourth single, following the disco-laden “Like A Tiger”, the more defiant “We Do What We Want (When We Want When We Want To)”, and debut track “Vitamins”. Excitingly, two songs from the forthcoming album have already been picked up for the soundtrack of a major American film release.

Cello is a solo artist from Brighton, UK. Nicknamed Cello after studying at the Junior Royal College of Music as a young cellist, she blends classical discipline with a lifelong love of post-punk, indie-rock and art-pop to create a sound that feels both fresh and strangely familiar.

Drawing inspiration from everything around her – from the dramatic flair of Stevie Nicks and Lady Gaga to her parents’ eclectic vinyl collection of heavy rock, David Bowie and Eurythmics – Cello channels those influences through the sharp-edged energy of post-punk and art-rock acts such as Wire and Blondie.

Cello began writing her own music relatively recently during downtime between touring commitments with others. While touring internationally as a professional cellist, she met producer and co-writer JB – a former EMI Music Studios engineer whose credits include Guru’s ‘Jazzmatazz’, Primal Scream, Heavy Stereo, The House of Love and Merz – after a chance meeting on the last train home from London.

Together with JB, she developed her debut album, ‘Kung Fu Disco’, bringing her love of rock and roll from the stage into the studio. The record is due for release in early 2027 on Barracuda Recordings. Recorded at The Metway – home to The Levellers – the album captures the excitement, experimentation and irreverent spirit that drives Cello’s music.
