Cork band, The Drive. share blistering new single 'nothing crossed.'

Cork four-piece the drive. today release their new single 'nothing crossed.', alongside news of an Irish headline tour this autumn and a London date at Paper Dress Vintage on 15th October.

Whispers of the drive. have been moving through Ireland for a while now, carried by word-of-mouth accounts of shows in cramped rooms and basements - drawing parallels to The Cure, Interpol and Deftones. The Cork four-piece have been building something that resists easy explanation: part shoegaze, part grunge, with an intensity that coils tighter with every strike.

Blistering new single 'nothing crossed.' explores the breaking of promises. Opening in near silence, Eoin Murphy’s vocal traces the outline of unease before the track erupts, guitars and drums surging into a claustrophobic wall of sound. The song channels feelings of uncertainty and displacement, rooted in Murphy’s reflection on promises made and broken in both personal and societal contexts.

“As a kid, ‘nothing crossed’ was something people would always say about promises; sometimes breaking, and sometimes keeping them. I wanted to use it as the crux for this song & touch on the society we live in today, and more importantly the future we’re constantly being promised, be that by local TD’s, our government, or even our interpersonal relationships," singer Eoin Murphy explains.

Emerging from Cork’s creative underground, the drive. operate with a sense of purpose shaped by circumstance. Raised in overlooked areas and drawn together by shared struggles, their music reflects a need to escape - from the dread of working life, from political apathy, from the pressure to dilute emotion. Their songwriting reclaims agency in a world that often feels directionless, approaching familiar themes with sincerity and weight. That same intensity bleeds into their live shows, where controlled chaos meets an almost confrontational vulnerability.
