To celebrate the album’s release, CORONATUS will perform an exclusive release show in Sweden, playing the complete record live for the first time, along with a selection of fan-favorite material from the band’s catalogue.

This will be a unique opportunity to experience Dreadful Waters as a cohesive work - in its entirety and in its intended sequence.

Following the singles “The Maelstrom” and “Through The Brightest Blue”, the full album now unveils the complete maritime narrative envisioned by the band - a symphonic journey into the mysteries, dangers, myths and emotional depths of the sea.

With “Dreadful Waters”, CORONATUS dive into the symbolic power of oceans and tides: water as the force of the unseen, the vast, the dangerous and the transformative. While its predecessor “Atmosphere” focused on threats of the “airy” realm, the new record shifts the perspective toward nautical worlds rich in folklore, peril and psychological resonance.

Musically, the album blends symphonic metal foundations with folk elements, expressive orchestrations and experimental textures that have become a cornerstone of the CORONATUS sound. The songwriting expands beyond drummer and founder Mats Kurth, with contributions from vocalist Nemesis and guitarist Harry Zeidler, broadening the creative horizon of the band.

Dreadful Waters was produced by Markus Stock and Mats Kurth at Klangschmiede Studio E, where Stock also handled mixing and mastering, delivering the album’s striking sonic depth and clarity. The cover artwork by Michael Krebes visually captures the descent into unknown waters, merging mysticism, danger and elemental force.
