Craig Finn Announces Full-Band Fall Tour

Craig Finn has announced plans for a full-band US headline tour. The Man I’ve Always Been Tour will see Finn backed by The Band of Forgiveness, an accomplished group of Minneapolis-based musicians who bring a very special new perspective to Finn’s solo compositions. “I am absolutely thrilled to announce these shows in November 2026 with The Band of Forgiveness,” says Craig Finn. “I put together The Band of Forgiveness last year with three Minneapolis-based musicians – Nelson Devereaux, Joe Strachan, and Ethan Elseth. I had imagined a group of musicians that would help me take on some of my songs in a unique approach, one that let the stories shine through but still brought a high level of musicality.

“I was thrilled how the tour went – each show the band ascended higher, and we were able to create dramatic musical narratives that were exciting and satisfying. In January, we hit the UK and played a few shows, culminating in a beautiful night at London’s Union Chapel. Now, I am excited to be bringing this amazing band to the West Coast and back through the Midwest. These will be extremely special shows, and I hope you will join us!”

Next month, Finn is teaming up once again with Patterson Hood for another round of their Devils in the Details Tour, a very special live run that sees the two longtime friends trading songs together onstage, accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Ben Hackett. Dates begin July 9 at The Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, MN, and then visit Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts through the month.

“I’ve been friends with Patterson Hood for almost twenty years now,” says Finn, “and we’ve done a lot of cool things together. But possibly my favorite adventure with Patterson was the Devils in the Details Tour that we did from Seattle to Texas in November 2025. The shows were loose, fun, musical, and truly special.

“We’re doing it all again, starting next month, starting in the Twin Cities and running through the East Coast. These are guaranteed to be a great time, and I’m so excited to be playing in this format again. These will make for sublime summer evenings – I might even bust out some new songs for the occasion!”

Finn will cross the Atlantic this Fall for a series of eagerly awaited EU/UK dates supporting The Mountain Goats. The shows get underway on October 5 in Helsinki, Finland, and then make stops in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Finn will be accompanied by The Band of Forgiveness in Manchester, Dublin, Glasgow, London, and Bristol.

ABOUT CRAIG FINN:

Craig Finn is a Minnesota-bred singer/songwriter based in New York City, best known as the singer of The Hold Steady. Finn spent the ’90s leading Minneapolis indie band Lifter Puller, which released three albums and an EP. After relocating to New York, he joined with Lifter Puller member Tad Kubler to form The Hold Steady in 2003. The Hold Steady quickly achieved critical acclaim and a worldwide fanbase with their unique pairing of dense lyrical narratives with big rock guitars. The Hold Steady’s ninth album, The Price Of Progress, was released in March 2023, commemorating the band’s 20th anniversary.

Finn released his first solo album in 2012 with three additional solo LPs put forth from 2015-2019, Faith in the Future, We All Want The Same Things, and I Need a New War, all of which coalesced into a sign-of-the-times musical trilogy. Finn’s fifth solo album, A Legacy of Rentals, was released in 2022 and received universal critical acclaim.

Finn released his sixth solo album, Always Been, in 2025. Produced by Adam Granduciel (The War On Drugs), the album features musical performances by Granduciel and members of The War on Drugs, Kathleen Edwards, Sam Fender, and more. Always Been tells the story of a man who becomes a clergyman despite a lack of faith. The songs detail his rise, fall, and eventual redemption, while also shining a light to sharply reveal the other characters that populate the world he moves through. A limited edition, 92-page companion book, Lousy With Ghosts, accompanies the album and features 11 works of fiction by Finn. These stories take place in the same universe as the record, giving deeper looks at the characters within.

In 2025, Finn debuted The Band of Forgiveness, an accomplished group of Minneapolis-based musicians who bring a unique musical perspective to Finn’s solo compositions. In early 2026, The Band of Forgiveness toured the UK, culminating in a sold-out performance at London’s esteemed Union Chapel.

That’s How I Remember It is Craig Finn’s podcast series, launched in 2022. Co-produced and distributed by Talkhouse, the podcast series examines the connection between memory and creativity. Each episode features a discussion between Finn and one creator – including musicians, authors, filmmakers, and more – about the role memory plays in their art.
