Cristina Branco marks one year since the release of "Mãe"

Cristina Branco celebrates this week the one-year anniversary of the release of "Mãe," her latest work. A tribute and return to traditional Fado, it has been performed on stages around the world. Basel, in Switzerland, and Muscat, in Oman, are some of the upcoming stops.

Cristina Branco heads to Basel this Friday with her usual trio, consisting of Luís Figueiredo (piano), Bernardo Couto (Portuguese guitar), and Bernardo Moreira (double bass). The setlist will center around "Mãe", but the concert will be enriched with other songs and fados from her prolific career, as she continues to give voice to great authors of Portuguese literature, a hallmark of her tradition.

On November 5th, Branco will make her debut in Oman at the prestigious Royal Opera House Muscat, one of the most iconic venues in the Middle East. Next up is Leverkusen, Germany, where she will perform at the Bayer Erholungshaus on November 8th. The tour will continue into 2025, with concerts already confirmed in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.

In 2024, Cristina Branco has already performed in over thirty venues worldwide, from Latin America to Europe, to present her latest album Mãe. With 18 albums released, extensive world tours, and numerous awards—including two Prix Choc from Le Monde de la Musique magazine and the SPA Album of the Year Award for Menina (2016) — Cristina Branco is a true ambassador of Portuguese culture. While traditional music is her foundation, influences from jazz, literature, and the musicians she collaborates with lend her art a universal dimension.
