Crown Solace - Northern Skies [Symphonic Metal FFO Nightwish Epica Amaranthe]
Formed in Aberdeen, Scotland in 2020, Crown Solace have established their position as one of the UK’s preeminent symphonic metal bands through the release of an array of singles and the well-received 2023 EP, Animus – described by Frenzy Fire Metal & Rock Reviews as “...breathtaking...jaw dropping...elegant majesty.” The band’s live performances have also earned them critical acclaim and an ever-increasing army of followers, with their appearance at Bloodstock 2025, headlined by Trivium, Machine Head and Gojira, a triumphant high point in their career to date. Now, in the lead up to their appearance at Quest Fest 2026, alongside the likes of Masterplan and Myrath, Crown Solace are about to unveil a stunning new single, inspired by their Scottish heritage – ‘Northern Skies’!
Opening with the crystal clear soprano voice of Pete Rawcliffe, ‘Northern Skies’ brings together the traditional folk melodies that live in the hearts of everyone with driving symphonic metal power in an uplifting, soul stirring meeting of two worlds. The incredible chorus is like a parting of clouds to reveal a glorious vista of sun-dappled mountains and wide, endless skies, even as Callum Hutchinson’s harsh vocals bring a dark, aggressive edge to the song and provide a thrilling contrast to Rawcliffe’s soaring, angelic tones. There’s a sense of pride here, of history and stories, landscape and adventure, all underpinning the exhilarating charge of ‘Northern Skies’- and the addition of guest bagpipes from Pereg Ar Bagol of Skiltron enriches the song’s vibrant identity immeasurably. ‘Northern Skies’ is a powerful statement from Crown Solace, one that gives real insight into the essence of the band and the elements that set them apart from the rest of the symphonic metal host.
Produced, mixed and mastered by Nico HK at Vamacara Studios (Hurakan, Parallyx, Argue etc) ‘Northern Skies’ has all the depth, clarity and power it needs to enthral the listener and make an irresistible, impactful connection. This is a song to draw supporters to the Crown Solace banner and it will surely become a glorious highpoint of the band’s live sets in the future – starting at Quest Fest at K.K.’s Steel Mill on October 10th! Heed the call of ‘Northern Skies’ on October 8th on all major digital platforms.
