Crucible of Hate releases Dark Metamorphis

A dark metamorphosis by name and nature, histories that pepper the whole extreme metal spectrum culminate in Crucible of Hate’s début record. The collective experience pays off in a record that smacks of groove and melody, but also retains the bite of death metal.

Dark Metamorphosis is subtly diverse, name-checking their influences without straying too close to mimicry. Groove is a fundamental factor, such as on “Devouring All”, after an opener that grabs attention via thrashing manically. The vitriolic “Death By Fucking Annihilation” has the delicacy of a sledgehammer, while “Callous Hand of Justice” and “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Nothingness” venture into proggier realms not unlike Opeth.

Dan Rivera’s vocals are an exceptionally diverse blend - part Carcass snarling, part Tool wail, all interlocked with the nasty grooves and pounding drums. Crucible of Hate put the death in melodeath, every member locked in tight synchronicity, and Dark Metamorphosis is a strong statement of intent from a band firing on all cylinders.
