Dania O. Tausen releases "nei" EP, second part of her double album "ja/nei"
Today, multi-talented Faroese singer-songwriter Dania O. Tausen is releasing "nei" EP, the second and last part of her double album “ja/nei og restin av vikuni”, via Tutl Records. The two sides of the album are out digitally on all streaming platforms as separate EPs and will be merged on October 27th, when a short film directed by Dania herself will also be released.
“ja / nei – og restin av vikuni” is Dania O. Tausen’s second album. It is dedicated to diving into the ordinary (shopping, working, travelling) and researching how it leads us onto bigger subjects (absurd reality, electronics in nature, unconsciousness, toxicity, making the right choices). To clear things up, the album is divided into two halves: the yes-side and the no-side. “The rest of the week” is a way of saying that there are many grey areas in between.
About "ja / yes" (A-side)
The yes-side of the brain (and the record) knows when the mind is playing games. It sees right through unhealthy patterns and chooses good behaviour: to see the good in itself and everything around it. To take time to relax and appreciate the small things. The yes-side doesn’t procrastinate, it is good at making decisions and will always leave all unnecessary things behind.
About "nei / no" (B-side)
The no-side is the darker and uglier side that is often not seen or heard. It admits all unhealthy racing thoughts, obsession, exhaustion, impatience and uncertainty. Diving into these private thoughts, and bringing them out into the light in an honest way, results in them becoming valuable lessons and new beginnings, everytime. Admitting that we are all mimicking each other and every now and then finding ourselves in silly situations with no hope, the no-side encourages us to loosen up and allow ourselves freedom.
Like on her first album, gonguteigatúnatos (crosswalktalks), Dania collaborated with multi-instrumentalist and producer Benjamin Djurhuus. This time they also invited talented songwriter and musician Ragnar Finsson (Horrse, Raske Drenge) to join them on the journey.
As a talented, multi-disciplinary artist, Dania also directed the videos for two of her four singles that anticipated the album: kann eg hava armin soleiðis her? and nú eru vit tvey fólk, merging her vision with video art, dance and performative art.
