Danish/Turkish Tuhaf releases new single and title track from upcoming debut album 'Mere Guld'
TUHAF is a Danish/Turkish rock band from Copenhagen fronted by charismatic Turkish born singer Berrin Bas. The fusion of different types of musicians and all kinds of genres - Anatolian folk, indie rock, free jazz, Danish traditional songs and US roots rock - wondrously merges into the sound of TUHAF. The band released its first EP ‘Gölgeden’ in 2019 and has since then played many shows around Europe. This coming September, TUHAF will release its debut album ‘Mere Guld’ (‘More Gold’ in Danish’ and today sees the release of the first single in the shape of the album title song.
Berrin states about the new single: “Mere Guld is a dystopian tribute to be all and nothing. To realize the reality of losing yourself to re-emerge.”
Even though TUHAF’s lyrics are and will remain poetry of love, it is not shiny happy songs about falling in love which the band excels in. Rather it is the breach, the sorrow, the conflict and profound longing that forms the subject matter. On the debut album, one hears about deceit among friends, lost love, abuse, mental distress, psychic vulnerability, abortion and even about an intern conflict in the band.
TUHAF will play a string of shows during the summer, among those at Copenhagen Jazz Festival and En Sommerdag på Bellahøj in Denmark and Rangle Rock in Norway. Today, the band announces a Copenhagen headliner at Hotel Cecil on November 18th, and tickets will be on sale Tuesday June 21st.
