Dark Disco Berlin based band Dina Summer announce album 'Girls Gang'

Brimming with synthpop energy, Berlin-based band Dina Summer returns with a riotous new album and the release of their sinister-sounding single, a dark tribute to iconic female goth figures.

Dina Summer, the Berlin indie/electro/wave trio, has unveiled their new single, Girls Gang, out now via Iptamenos Discos. Alongside the single, the band has announced their sophomore album of the same name, scheduled for release on January 24th, 2025.

The album’s third single is a seductive dose of chugging synth wave drama. In Girls Gang, the enchanting frontwoman Dina weaves a spell with breathy whispers, summoning goth icons like Morticia Addams, Lydia Deetz, Siouxsie Sioux, and Elvira. A pounding kick, snare, and relentless bassline pulse through the track, evoking a bold, self-assured confidence cloaked in black. Silky background vocals add elegance and allure, creating a complete picture of dark empowerment. This track serves as the album’s announcement single, paving the way for the LP’s release in early 2025.

Previously released singles, Alien and Halkidiki, have already made waves. Alien, a dancefloor anthem, was crafted for those who feel like an alien on this planet, with the trio embodying UFOs that land on Earth seeking its inhabitants. Meanwhile, Halkidiki is an upbeat homage to the sun-soaked Greek vacation spot, brimming with a lively bassline and dreamy vocals that channel warm, 80s-inspired synthwave vibes.

Described by RA as “dark disco meets EBM”, Dina Summer is a collaborative project featuring Kalipo, a member of electro-punk band Frittenbude, alongside the duo behind Iptamenos Discos, Local Suicide. Their previous work includes the critically acclaimed 2022 album Rimini, which dives into retro disco nostalgia, as well as the 2021 EP Who Am I and the 2024 EP Hide & Seek. They've also contributed to Curses’ Next Wave Acid Punx compilation, participated in Purple Mag x radiooooo’s 2070 project, and are part of Reeperbahn Festival’s Collide Sessions.

With millions of streams and international radio airplay, Dina Summer's music has been featured on numerous Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists and supported by DJs like Charlotte De Witte, The Hacker, Âme, Dixon, Joris Voorn, DJ Hell, Joyce Muniz, and Dubfire. Their releases have garnered coverage from prominent publications, including RA, DJ Mag, Mixmag, Groove, Spiegel Online, Musikexpress, Tsugi, ELLE, Penthouse, and FAZE, which hailed them as one of Germany’s most promising electronic acts. Since their formation five years ago, Dina Summer has brought their celebrated live show to venues and festivals across Europe.

Around the release of Girls Gang in January, the trio will embark on a European tour, with more details to follow (see dates below).

The highly anticipated album features eleven distinctive new wave / dark disco tracks, each brimming with character. Girls Gang, perfectly highlights Dina Summer’s skill for crafting moody, dancefloor-ready anthems while exploring themes far beyond the club.
