SWARTZHEIM is a crossover thrash metal band consisting of six young men hailing from the main peninsula Jutland in Denmark. An affection for metal, musical talent and the urge to express it lead to the band being formed in 2018, while the members were in their last year of elementary school. The name is derived from ‘Swartalfheim’, one of the nine worlds in Norse mythology, and under this ‘Black Home’ moniker, the band quickly realized their musical ideas and recorded and DIY-released its debut album ‘Clinical Nightmare’ in 2021.
During 2022 and 2023, SWARTZHEIM consolidated themselves as a live unit playing numerous shows in Denmark among those festival appearances at SPOT Festival, Heavy Agger, Copenhell Pre-party and winning the Danish edition of Wacken Metal Battle 2023. Simultaneously, the band has been sharpening their chops and songwriting while collecting material for a brand new release. Now, SWARTZHEIM can finally unleash the result in the shape of the EP ‘Sympathy’ set for a release October 13th 2023, again released 100% DIY.
‘Sympathy’ is a raging slab of metal delivering the goods throughout its four tracks of controlled chaos and spiteful energy. SWARTZHEIM incorporates thrash metal, classic metal and hardcore edge into a modern sound proving them to be one of the most exciting new bands in their generation. Drawing upon the eternal source within metal’s main subject matters, the lyrics revolve around the evils of man and the paradoxes of existence, seen through the eyes of the eyes of the young.
‘Sympathy’ successfully formulates the band’s frustrations and anger towards the state of the world in a fitting musical setting characterized by both aggression, fierce riffing and innovative arrangements. While the negativity is the primary sentiment meeting the listener, SWARTZHEIM is nonetheless an extremely positive acquaintance with its murderously well-executed and powerful metal mixture, and witnessing the band perform the ‘Sympathy’ material live should leave any hungry metal fan severely uplifted.
