Department M. signed by Tone Camp
Great news in the Tone camp. We are very pleased to welcome Department M.
Department M was initially the solo project of Owen Brinley, taking its name from East-Berlin drama, "The Lives Of Others". Following a spree of 7'' releases, including 'The Second Prize' on Too Pure Singles Club, a debut mini-album documenting the first year of Dept.M activity was rolled out deep into injury time last year by Fierce Panda and Rallye in Japan. Universal plaudits were offered from the likes of NME, Drowned In Sound, Loud and Quiet et al.
Principally a collaboration between Owen and long-term producer, James Kenosha, the material was a collection of harsh, sharp and sometimes cold electronic pop songs. Pushing the sonic limitations of modern production, a veil of distortion often suffocated the very humanity and grace of compositions lurking beneath. If you braved the waves, there were rewards to reap. The band have been holed up in legendary producer James Kenosha's studio in Bridlington, expect the springing of Department M mark II in January.
