DE'WAYNE Releases New Single For Alt-Rock Anthem “Die Out Here” Featuring POORSTACY

Genre-blending alt-rock artist from Houston DE’WAYNE releases their newest single and video for "DIE OUT HERE" featuring POORSTACY today via Hopeless Records, available on all streaming platforms. The track features an infectious blend of alternative pop-punk motifs, including lo-fi vocals overlayed across upbeat electric guitar hooks.

“I honestly feel we become so obsessed with pleasing and fitting in that you lose who you were when you started and I genuinely don’t wanna exist as an artist that way. So I was expressing 'I wanna go out with a smile if I can, and not be all messed up by what life does'” states DE'WAYNE.

The sound is reminiscent of early 90's/2000's classic alt- rock hits. The melodramatic lyrics contrast the upbeat energy of the song, lamenting grievances of the reality of adulthood, like the “voices in my head, they don’t pay no rent”. The video is a fever dream supercut of vignettes from DE'WAYNE’s narrative as he drives alongside friends and POORSTACY. Flashing to another scene, DE'WAYNE performs in an empty warehouse where as the song crescendos, he is eventually swept away by a storm.

“Not wanting to go out the way I’ve seen my heroes time after time. Being found without love or in the end feeling like they didn’t live up to the pressures you feel as a human. The inspiration comes from driving 1,300 miles from home to a place and leaving there with way more than you had at the beginning” DE'WAYNE on the inspiration behind the song.

“Ever since I was a kid, I believed in myself” starts DE’WAYNE. “I knew if I just got the chance, I could do something great”. DE'WAYNE’s first taste of performing came at age 12 when he got his first lead song at his local church. “Singing in front of people, fuck, I got turned on man. I was always very insecure and could never say what I felt but holding that mic, having people listen...” he felt seen. Alongside a crash course in Houston rappers from his dad, it wasn’t long before DE’WAYNE was writing his own tracks. “They were shit ‘cos I hadn’t lived,” he explains. That changed when he moved to L.A. aged 19 though.

Once there, DE'WAYNE “really went to the school of being dirt poor, learning how to write songs and about where you want to put your voice in the world”. There was a string of songs that saw DE’WAYNE following exactly what had come before, before a run of live shows found him discovering what sort of artist he wanted to be. “If I’d stayed in Houston, I’d just be my Mom’s son. I’d be doing a job I wouldn’t want to do.” Five years of searching later and “now, I’m fully DE'WAYNE".

In a post-genre world where everyone is free to do whatever they want, there’s no one doing what DE'WAYNE is doing. “We're in a lane of our own right now” he beams. “People either love it or they don't get it yet.” Give them time. As DE'WAYNE explains, “I'm not made to fit any box. I'm not a political artist, I'm just someone who talks about what he goes through. As long as I can keep writing good songs, I can talk about anything".

DE'WAYNE is unashamedly “ambitious as fuck. I want to be huge. I know I got a lot of work to do but it really feels achievable sometimes”. Authentic, rebellious and free.
