Domkraft premiere 'Night Prowler' cover on "Best of AC/DC

DOMKRAFT have unleashed their ten-ton AC/DC cover 'Night Prowler' as the second digital single from "Best of AC/DC", the companion volume to the forthcoming MER Redux series installment "Back in Black [Redux]", which are both scheduled for release on December 3. Martin Wegeland comments: "There is a true timeless quality to AC/DC that few other bands have attained", writes the DOMKRAFT vocalist and bass player. "This is hardly a unique observation, right? And to keep it even more generic; they were one of the first harder rock bands that we all heard as kids, and they have pretty much been with us ever since, especially their earlier stuff. In some strange way, their music has matured with us. Listening to a track like 'Live Wire' today comes with a completely different subtext than it did when we were, like, 11 years old. There's a lot of melancholy and sadness in both the vocals and the harmonies which I don’t think we grasped back then. Then it was all about ripping riffs and raising hell, which of course still is of huge importance. There are just more layers to the 'hell-raising' when listening to those albums today."

Martin continues: "We tried to keep 'Night Prowler' respectfully true to the original, while still twisting the song our way", he explains and reveals a "secret" about a singing guest: "If the original version is sneaking in its pace, then ours is crawling, slightly more dragging, messed up, and psychotic. We basically decided to learn to play the song as close to the original as possible, then unlearn, and give it our own treatment. I think our version makes total sense in a Domkraft context and I am stoked with how it tuned out. Fun fact: If you listen closely to the choirs, you might be able to recognize a familiar voice in the back. That's Tomas from At the Gates, who dropped into the studio while we were recording. You might miss it a first, but he’s there, behind Per and Kalle. Ready to rip your soul out."

Originally, the Swedish psychedelic doom-riffers bonded over a mutual love for SPACEMEN 3, MONSTER MAGNET, SLEEP, and HAWKWIND, to name but a few. Drawing from the heaviest of their combined influences, the trio from Stockholm crafted a sound that blends towering dirges, mind-bending psychedelia, and hypnotic minimalism, which is embodied by their monolithic 2016 debut album "The End of Electricity" and 2018 follow-up "Flood".

Following the release of their first full-length, DOMKRAFT received invitations from and performed at prestigious festivals such as the Desertfests (BE and DE), Psycho Las Vegas (US), Blow Up (FI), Sonic Whip (NL), and many others.
