Drool. Release Noir Video For 'Junkyard' Si

Directed by Jim Pilling and produced by Francesca Di Muro for Vidsett, the striking new video splices together a cryptic narrative of a game of cat-and-mouse played out on darkened city streets, with footage capturing an intimate snapshot of DROOL’s own scintillating live performances.

Shot with artful film-noir aesthetic, the video was filmed against the backdrop of Vale Road in Harringay, with additional footage recorded at DROOL photographer Eva Pentel’s North London studio. The impressive final edit serves up a fittingly foreboding counterpart for the London four piece’s head-turning current single release.

Elaborating on the concept behind the latest video, DROOL front man Joey Rogers says: “After the video for ‘Fun’ we wanted to make an intimate portrait of a band performing. It was inspired by a lot of 90s music videos crossed with cult films like Natural Born Killers.”

From its loping, low slung beginnings to the sprawling wall of noise and cut-glass guitar breaks, that haul it to a crashing crescendo, ‘Junkyard’ is the latest single from fast rising London grunge/punk outfit DROOL and arrives with the impact of an unstoppable musical juggernaut. With lyrics by the band’s Joey Rogers, the track documents an antagonistic exchange between two friends that erupts in the unsettling and claustrophobic confines of a scrap metal yard.

As brutal and brash as it is melodic and mesmeric, ‘Junkyard’ extracts the crunching core components of Pixies, Nirvana and Soundgarden and upcycles them with the band’s own erudite outlook and fresh sonic sensibilities. ‘Junkyard’ is the follow-up to the band’s 2019 single ‘Fun’ and will feature on a new EP release slated for later in 2019.

Recorded between London’s RAK, Bayham and Polestar studios, ‘Junkyard’ was produced by Chris Gepp & Anders Källmark and finessed by Richard Beetham for 360 Mastering.

Comprised of Joey Rogers (vox/guitar), Martin Söderin (drums), Joe Bennison (bass) and Louis Greenway (guitar), Drool employ a palette of pummeling drum beats and discordant guitars to create a sound with the sky-scraping prowess of the 90s grunge era and the wily spirit of 60s garage-pop records. Already making a name for themselves an explosively exciting live act, the band are already earmarked as one of the unmissable acts of this year’s Camden Rocks Festival in June.
