Dune Messiah takes us on a nostalgic Tivoli trip on new single and video

After an EP, two albums (latest ‘Moments of Bliss’ from 2019) and several tours in Europe, among those as support for Drab Majesty and King Dude, DUNE MESSIAH aka singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist Magnus W. Jespersen releases his second new single ‘Death on Wheels’ today, just one month after the release of the latest single ‘Privileged’. The single is accompanied by a a music video shot in Tivoli, Copenhagen on a warm spring night. Besides Jesperen and his two band members, the Canadian saxophone player Joseph Shabason (from Destroyer a.o.) performs on the song. Both ‘Privileged’ and ‘Death On Wheels' are part of a new album that will arrive in the fall, where Jespersen and co. will play shows soon to be announced.

Jespersen says about ‘Death on Wheels’:

The idea for ‘Death on Wheels’ came about while I was selling Christmas trees north of Copenhagen. I heard the song ‘Driving Home for Christmas’ by Chris Rea, which I really like, and got the idea to write a song in the same kind of atmosphere. The song and the video together represent the ironic distance to luxury, which is also the album's recurring theme. And here I think a dark version of ‘Driving Home for Christmas’ is a mysterious and intriguing way to express this. This is also why I have chosen to record the music video in Tivoli because I think it is an excellent picture of the decay of the west. That we live in a amusement park of entertainment while the bombs explode around our heads and the earth is about to go under. And the best way to say things is to put a good bunch of humor into the pot. On the song, I got Canadian saxophone god Joseph Shabason (from Destroyer) to embody this luxury monster that the song represents to me.
