Emma Hewitt shares gorgeous new single + music video “Into My Arms”
Emma Hewitt returns to Black Hole Recordings with her stunning new single and music video “Into My Arms,” featuring Emma’s beloved vocals, as well as her on drums and piano. The single was produced by German ambient/electronica master Robert Koch (aka Robot Koch) and mastered by John Davis (Lana Del Rey, Bat For Lashes, Florence & The Machine).
“Into My Arms” was written during the peak of the pandemic when Emma’s distance from relatives and other loved ones grew vaster, and for longer than ever before. She sheds some light on what inspired the evocative release; “... I began to wonder when, or even if, I would reunite with some of those people (if at all) in this lifetime. Perhaps they will only be dreamt of for the rest of my time here, but I know I will visit them often in my memories and they will be with me always...The meaning of this song really amplified during the recording process for me, the reality of forced separation was one we were all dealing with daily, that was very much channeled through into the record.”
The music video shows Emma isolated in an older house, with clips of her family shown throughout. Emma opens up about the meaning behind the video; “We wanted the video to feel raw and intimate; communicating the emotional intent was the only focus and all that mattered. We shot the video ourselves super low-fi on mobile phones in a really beautiful, old house in Australia that felt like it ended up becoming a metaphor for the memories I was singing about in many ways. The house was the (unintentionally) perfect backdrop for the emotion of the song.”
Paired with the release of “Into My Arms” comes the remix from nowifi, which adds some house elements to make the track more dance floor ready, while maintaining the passion. Both the original and the nowifi remix are available now on Black Hole Recordings.
Few voices are as instantly recognizable as that of Emma Hewitt. From her quiet coastal-town beginnings as an acoustic singer/songwriter to packed clubs and some of the largest electronic and dance festival stages in the world, her career has spanned over a decade and has included Billboard #1's, IDMA and International Songwriter Awards, and collaborations with some of electronic music's most notable producers. The next chapter of Emma Hewitt's evolution sees her return to her singer/songwriter roots and 80's tinged indie influences on a self-produced full-length solo album set to be released on Black Hole Recordings later this year.
