Estertor: Barcelona thrash/black/death act stream single homaging horror film ‘The Church’; ‘Evil Black Church’ due late-October via Black Lion Rec.

Barcelona’s black/death thrashers Estertor will release their third album, Evil Black Church, on October 23 via Black Lion Records on CD, vinyl, and digital formats. The album is a tribute to the works of the Italian Masters of Horror, including Lucio Fulci, Lamberto Bava, Mario Bava, and Michele Soavi.

Estertor has unleashed the album’s title track as its first preview, and of the track, the band says:

“‘Evil Black Church’ is a tribute to the film ‘The Church’ (*La Chiesa*) directed by Michele Soavi and produced by Dario Argento. It tells the story of the construction of a cathedral beneath the graves of an ancient tribe that was massacred. Blasphemy runs rampant there, with demons and apparitions taking center stage.”

Evil Black Church is entirely dedicated to the great classics of Italian horror cinema, including The Church, Demons, Black Sunday, The Beyond, and Stage Fright, and centered around the figure of the Devil, evil, and blasphemy in the seventh art. It is Estertor’s own Necronomicon of classic cinema, featuring new compositional elements, with influences ranging from Bathory, Celtic Frost, and Sodom to American death metal bands such as Massacre and Obituary, alongside guitar solos worthy of the most macabre heavy metal.
