Faroese Experimental Rap-Punk Band Aggrasoppar Release New Single ‘TEKIN UPPÁ LÍV’
Faroese experimental rap-punk outfit AGGRASOPPAR are releasing their new single ‘TEKIN UPPÁ LÍV’ (SIGN OF LIFE) today. The single is the second take from their upcoming EP ”MIDNÁTTARSANG" (MIDNIGHTSONG), set for release in March 2024.
"As kids, we used to play hide and seek. We remember the victorious feeling of hiding and never being found, and the even greater feeling of finding everyone really fast as the seeker", they said. TEKIN UPP Á LÍV means SIGN OF LIFE in Faroese, and as the childish adults AGGRASOPPAR are, they reminisce about the game over a lo-fi beat. Ayphin, Dada & Sóljudrongur mention different places they have been hiding as kids (under the table, in the bed, in the car, under the staircase), but the older and bigger you get, you'd think you'd get worse at hiding, but as adults we hide by not participating in conversations, hiding our faces in our hair, and making ourselves invisible in crowds.
AGGRASOPPAR thinks it's time to stop hiding the big feelings and dare to be vulnerable. Stop hiding our worldviews for peace, stop walking around as zombies and younger versions of ourselves who are scared to face any inconvenience, and try being signs of life to others instead. Show our faces and stand for something. That is what TEKIN UPP Á LÍV is about.

AGGRASOPPAR has had an intense 2023 with a lot of live gigs, two of them being Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg and The Great Escape in Brighton. Now they are ready for some even more exciting months ahead playing at Eurosonic in Groningen and Trondheim Calling in January and February 2024.
Comprised of Dania O. Tausen, Eyðfinn Bogason Lamhauge, and Trygvi Danielsen, Aggrasoppar released their EP “døgurðaslang” (lunch-nap) last summer. With its eight tracks, the EP showcases the band's soft, nostalgic, and tender side and its message of believing in the goodness in every human being walking this earth at this moment.
About Aggrasoppar
Aggrasoppar [Agg:rah:soh:parr] is a Faroese “flowerpunk naprap semi-supergroup” which erupted from the societal slumber of 2020 and released its 20-song-strong debut album on Christmas Eve 2020. They are infamous for their energetic live performances where you never know what to expect from their surprisingly big and diverse repertoire – everything from harsh noise to soft country.
Aggrasoppar’s music covers a wide variety of genres and moods, all bound together by the playful weirdness of the production and performances of the three core members who go by the pseudonyms Ayphinn, Dada, and Sóljudrongur. It is defined as “uncomfortably cute, lovingly gross and freshly awkward.” With unconventional lyrics and instrumentals, Aggraasoppar have taken the underground by storm with their soaring, rough, dreaming, nightmarish music on their self-titled debut album, “æðrasoppar”.
Aggrasoppar promise their show to be just what those expect who never know what the hell is going on.
"Aggrasoppar is an example of skillful treatment of music in an experimental and unconventional way. You get to face the fusion of many styles and genres, including EBM, neo-soul, trip-hop, hip hop, electro-pop, punk, dark ambience, industrial, jazz and ethnic, with great beats, interesting melodies and fantastic samples. Aggrasoppar balances between darkness and sensual sweetness. The music has no limits, and each time you find something in it." - STACJA ISLANDIA
