First Draft releases new album 'An Instant Before the Promise of Dawn'

Formed in Tours (France) in 2016, bass/drums duo FIRST DRAFT surprise with their skilled handling of intensities and textures. From post-rock's melodious patches to post-hardcore's liberating eruptions, the French musicians deploy a striking range of raw emotions. The bassist alone creates an imposing sound edifice that subtly carves out and multiplies melodic layers. The drummer's clear magnetic voice acts as a perspicacious guide. Together, they convert their feelings of stupefaction and helplessness facing the modern world's numerous challenges, into the necessary strength to unite and fight collectively. In the vein of artists such as Brutus, Cult of Luna and Emma Ruth Rundle, the band aim to sublimate this profound desire to see society evolve.

After the release of their debut album ‘Irony & Smiles’ in October 2018, FIRST DRAFT truly begin to dig their groove with the ‘Declines Are Long Gone’ EP. Released in February 2022 by LyloProd, it depicts a poetic and painful world, full of contradictions and genuine humanity. The album quickly propelled the duo to the forefront of new opportunities.

FIRST DRAFT took part in key festivals such as Terres du Son, Bars En Trans and Printemps de Bourges, and toured Europe. Unsurprisingly, the project really shines on stage; its obvious technical and technological complexity gives rise to the authenticity of live performance. “A performance as striking as memorable” according to Rolling Stone Magazine.

Each track on FIRST DRAFT's upcoming album delivers a fragment of life suspended before the changeover to a more desirable future, and in which impatience bubbles up. ‘An Instant Before the Promise of Dawn’ arrives on October 10th 2025 through Vlad, on vinyl, CD and digital.
